Beginning Friday, December 10th, the state of Oregon will launch a new foreclosure prevention program - The Oregon Homeownership Stabilization Initiative (OHSI). The program will help at least 5,000 Oregon homeowners pay their mortgages for up to one year, or $20,000, whichever comes first. More information can be found on the OHSI website: http://www.oregonhomeownerhelp.org.
You have until January 14th to complete your application and the last day for appointments is January 16th. Umpqua Coastal Housing is scheduling appointments to review applications at the Hotel North Bend open Mon-Fri 8 am to 8 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. There are even open on New Years Day! The phone number (541) 751-0838.
We applied for this program last week and found that even though we qualified in all the other criteria, we bought our house in 2009 instead of 2008 which disqualified us immediately. The requirements are too stringent and the amount of forms to fill out and documents to produce are nearly overwhelming to most people. No wonder hardly anybody can qualify for this program or even wants to try! Just another bueracracy sitting on a pot of money it can't even spend!

A bucket, rags and sponges will also be needed for cleaning your tiles of excess.
